Mountaineer Country offers plenty of winter activities

It’s chilly, Mountaineer Country! Let’s stay home and embrace the wild and wonderful winter weather together here in Almost Heaven. Join VMCCVB in supporting our very own businesses this season and stay connected with us for all the latest updates on where to eat, play, shop, and stay local this year.

We are excited to announce that the VMCCVB lodging committee will hold its first meeting Coffee and Conversations with VMCCVB at 10 a.m. Feb. 10. The meeting will be an opportunity for our lodging partners to make connections and learn about some free resources to help them with the current challenges facing the hospitality industry. That’s why we want you to join in on VMCCVB’s initiatives to help keep our home safe. Whether you’re fully embracing the winter weather or looking to warm things up, Mountaineer Country is buzzing with activities to keep you entertained all season.

Keeping it cool? Check out:

  • BOPARC Ice Arena — Amateur or professional, spend the day on the ice for just $5!
  • Alpine Lake Resort — Enjoy a long, cozy weekend nestled away on winter scenery.
  • Chestnut Ridge Campground — Have yourself a sleigh day for just $5 an hour!
  • Morgantown Polar Plunge — Mark your Calendars, Mountaineers! The 15th Annual Morgantown Polar will be Feb. 20. Registration is from Feb. 1-28, but participants can dive anywhere during the month of February to support the Special Olympics of West Virginia.   • Mountain Man Axe Throwing — Grab a friend and some drinks, and take swing at axe throwing, or let out some frustration in the all-new smash room.
  • The WOW! Factory — Feeling artsy all of a sudden? The WOW! Factory takes walk-ins!
  • Mylan Park — Check out the facilities at Mylan Park for a variety of experiences. Do a socially distanced workout, swim some laps in the pool, or take the kids to the state-of-the-art Aquatic Center!
  • Orange Theory Fitness — HIIT a workout at OTF for a certified coach-led session designed to maximize calorie burn for up to 36 hours!
  • Gritstone Climbing + Fitness — Challenge yourself at West Virginia’s largest indoor climbing gym! Climb to the top with the Learning Zone, a space designed for both youth and adult classes.
