With schedule shuffle, No. 14 West Virginia will play No. 2 Baylor in consecutive games

MORGANTOWN, W. Va. — As a result of rescheduling games due to COVID-19 protocols, No. 14 West Virginia will get back-to-back shots against No. 2 Baylor next month.

The Mountaineers (9-4, 2-3 Big 12) were originally scheduled to face the Bears in Waco, Tex. on Jan. 12, but the Mountaineers were unable to make that trip after the program fell short of Big 12 roster requirements, due to positive coronavirus tests and contact tracing within its program.

The Big 12 announced Monday that game was rescheduled for Feb. 18, just three days after WVU will host Baylor at the Coliseum.

Tip-off for the Feb. 18 game is scheduled for 5 p.m. and the game will be televised by ESPN2.

The Big 12 also moved WVU’s road game against TCU back one day to Feb. 23, and that game is also scheduled to begin at 5 p.m. and be televised by ESPN2.

The Mountaineers still have two more home games against TCU and Oklahoma State that need to be rescheduled.

They were originally scheduled for Jan. 16 and Jan. 19, but WVU was unable to play those games, as well.

The Mountaineers are still scheduled to return to action Saturday at Kansas State, provided WVU is able to meet the Big 12’s requirements of having at least six scholarship players available to compete.
