
Harry Charles “Dick” Powell, 70, of Terra Alta, died on Wednesday, Dec. 9, 2020, at his home.
Dick was born Dec. 19, 1949, in Kingwood, a son of the late Orva David “Jake” and Beulah Virginia (DeBerry) Powell.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War and had worked as a coal miner and a timber cutter.
He is survived by his former wife, Frances Jean Powell, of Terra Alta; one son, Harry Charles Powell Jr., of Terra Alta; one daughter, Danita Shirley, of Bruceton Mills; two step-daughters, Melissa Grimm and Betty Boyer, both of Terra Alta; one sister, Sharon Stonebraker, of Tunnelton; one brother, Thomas Powell, of Tunnelton; one aunt, Carolyn Bunch, of Cleveland; three grandsons, Adam, Alex and Landon; two granddaughters, Katelyn and Havanna; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Harold, David, Bobby and Dennis Powell; and one sister, Elizabeth Grace Powell.
Cremation services are under the direction of Rotruck-Lobb Crematory.
The family would like to extend special thanks to his caregiver, Peggy Maust, Amedisys Hospice, Jim Lobb and Craig Rotruck.
