Downtown Construction

Street sections closed as MUB repairs man hole

Downtown drivers may want to factor in a few extra minutes of commute time for the next couple of weeks, as Morgantown Utility Board completes a project that involves the closure of portions of Fayette and Spruce streets.

Wednesday, MUB began work at the intersection of Spruce and Fayette. This work requires the closure of Fayette Street between High and Spruce streets, as well as the left two lanes of Spruce Street along the work site. These closures will remain in effect during the entirety of the roughly two-week construction period.

This project includes the removal of a failing brick manhole and construction of a new manhole using a mixture of precast concrete sections and brick materials. At the end of the work, existing pipes will be reconnected to the new manhole and the street restored.

Questions or comments on the project can be directed to MUB staff engineer Scott Ferguson at sferguson@mub.org or by calling 304-292-8443.
