Morgantown, University well represented on all-TRAC teams

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — Despite a shortened fall season due to COVID-19, Morgantown and University High were well represented on the All-TRAC teams for fall sports.

Football
Morgantown seniors Caden Biser, Cam Rice and Deondre Crudup, junior Preston Harman, and sophomores Devon Eldridge and Nathan Hagan were selected. The Mohigans went 3-3 this season, just missing the Class AAA playoffs.

For the Hawks, seniors TT Brooks, Eliki Barner and Drew Burton, juniors Donald Brandel and Daminn Cunningham, and sophomore Noah Braham were picked. UHS made the playoffs and lost to Musselman in the first round, finishing the year at 3-4.

Boys’ soccer
UHS cleaned up the boys’s soccer awards with coach Michael Smith winning Coach of the Year and senior forward Riley Nett winning Player of the Year.

Nett, along with fellow seniors JM Jones and Timothy Bailey, also represented the Hawks on the All-TRAC team.

For MHS, seniors Massimo Darmelio and Braxton Johnson, and junior Caden Carpenter were represented.

Girls’ soccer
The Mohigans reached the regional championship, but fell short of repeating as state champions this year. Seniors Anna Iquinto and Alyssa Weaver, as well as junior Michaela August, were selected.

For the Hawks, senior Tristen Bright, junior Mia Travis and sophomore Emily Lattea made the team.

Volleyball
MHS was able to reach the state semifinals before falling to eventual-champion Musselman, and for that, senior Alayna Corwin was named TRAC Player of the Year. Corwin and freshman Isabel Grushecky were selected.

Senior Olivia Kaddar and junior Anna Voris represented UHS.
