Pa. man accused of traveling to Morgantown to have sex with minor boy

A Pennsylvania man is charged with multiple felonies for allegedly coming to Morgantown to have sex with a 14-year-old boy.

Ryan Banks, 36, of Mechanicsburg, Pa., is charged with use of minors in filming sexually explicit conduct, distribution and exhibiting of material depicting minors, strangulation without consent, two counts solicitation of a minor and three counts of third-degree sexual assault.

According to a criminal complaint, a woman contacted the Monongalia County Sheriff’s Office after she discovered her 14-year-old son had been in contact with a 36-year-old man on Instagram and exchanged nude photos.

Banks and the victim met twice, according to a criminal complaint. The first time, Banks performed a sex act on the victim in his car, according to a criminal complaint.

During an interview, the victim said Banks took him to the Hampton Inn on Van Voorhis Road and engaged in sexual activity with him. Banks filmed the sexual activity with his cell phone and sent it to a friend named Tony, according to the complaint.

During the two interactions, three sex acts were allegedly performed and are each charged as separate counts of sexual assault.

Banks was arraigned Sunday by Magistrate Jim Nabors and is being held in North Central Regional Jail in lieu of $85,000.
