Garage catches fire on Summer School Road

A two-story garage caught fire Tuesday afternoon on Summers School Road.

When firefighters arrived at 1397 Summers School Road, there was “heavy fire,” according to Brookhaven Volunteer Fire Department Assistant Chief Zach Lipscomb.

The fire was quickly put out and no was injured, he said.

“We have not a clue yet what started it,” Lipscomb told The Dominion Post on the scene. “We haven’t even looked into that yet.”

A riding mower and what appeared to be dirt bikes were in the garage but were moved out by the owners with only minor damage, Lipscomb said.

Mon EMS, Cheat Lake, Star City and Clinton District volunteer fire departments also responded. Reedsville VFD was on the way but turned around because the fire was under control.
