Just over 2,500 ballots cast as 10-day early voting period begins

MORGANTOWN — Monongalia County’s 10-day early voting period got off to excellent start on Wednesday according to County Clerk Carye Blaney.

A total of 2,537 of the county’s 74,562 registered voters, about 3.4%, got to the polls.

Blaney would like to remind voters that no voting is taking place at the Monongalia County Courthouse.

Further, if you applied for an absentee ballot and decide to vote in person, you must bring your absentee ballot with you to surrender to election officials.

Lastly, Blaney said voters have received texts and links to websites with voting information.

“None of this is from Monongalia County.  We also do not use social media.  We have ads in the newspaper each day and we have a website with the correct information for our county,” Blaney explained.   “If a voter is not sure if something is correct or not, please check these two resources or call our office at 304-291-7230 for accurate information.”

Early voting will be held from 9 a.m.- 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday through Oct. 31 at the following locations:

  •  Mountaineer Mall, 5000 Greenbag Road, Unit D-20, Morgantown
  •  Mason Dixon Park, 79 Buckeye Road, Core
