Mario’s Fishbowl opens new location

Third restaurant will only offer delivery, takeout, no alcohol and use same menu

The owners of Mario’s Fishbowl, a Morgantown institution for seven decades, have opened a third location in Westover.

The Fairmont Road location was formerly a Dairy Queen. It is exclusively a takeout and delivery location.

“It’s a perfect location with high visibility,” said co-owner Greg Craddock of the new location, which opened last week.

The business, which got its start in 1949, was purchased by its current ownership group — Craddock, Kim Zweibaum, Alan Costlow, Sarah Mahe and Kim Laurita — in 2017. Besides its Westover location, there are Mario’s restaurants on Richwood Avenue and in Suncrest.

The Westover location will be the only Mario’s that offers delivery, and it does not sell alcohol. The menu will be the same as at its other two Morgantown locations, Craddock said.

“We are very excited to continue to grow and expand our footprint on the Morgantown area,” said co-owner Sarah Mahe. “Our takeout business has been growing in recent years and in the current times, takeout and delivery are more important than ever to continue to provide our service to the community, while making our customers’ and employees’ safety the top priority.”

Jolene Downs, a Mario’s regular at the Suncrest location, said she is happy to see a small business expand, especially in the COVID-19 economy.

“I am so thrilled to hear Mario’s is expanding,” the Morgantown resident said. “Not only is their food amazing, but it’s always great to see local businesses thriving through the COVID period.”

The Westover location will be open from 11 a.m.-9 p.m. seven days a week. For more information, go to www.mariosfishbowl.com.
