Sheriff arrests man for murder

Investigation into 2019 Tunnelton death ongoing

KINGWOOD — A Tunnelton man was arrested Friday and charged with first degree murder.

Robert Joseph Quinn, 43, of Tunnelton has been arrested and charged with the death of Philip “Buckie” Barlow, 61, of Tunnelton.

Preston County Sheriff’s Office Captain T.N. Tichnell arrested Quinn, following an extensive investigation. Quinn was arraigned by Magistrate P. L. Grimm and is currently in the Tygart Valley Regional Jail. No bond has been set.

The investigation began when Barlow failed to  show up for work at a trucking company on May 29, 2019. His vehicle was found on fire that same morning near Showerbath Road. Barlow’s body was later found near Fortneys Mill in June 2019.

The investigation is ongoing and further arrests are anticipated.

This arrest was a combined effort from all members of the Sheriff’s Office from Sheriff Loughrie down, as well as several outside agencies.

“The Sheriff’s department might not be the nuts and bolts of the county but do what they can,” Sheriff Dan Loughrie said about the arrest.

No further comment will be made at this time and further information will be released only as the investigation progresses.
