Uffington bridge repairs to be complete by Friday

Repairs to Uffington bridge, on Interstate 79 northbound at the Interstate 68 split, should be completed by Friday.

That’s according to Acting District 4 Engineer Mike Cronin.

The bridge was closed and a temporary emergency repair made  Sept. 20 because of a problem with an expansion joint, Cornin said.

The problem caused the road to separate on the bridge and caused several flat tires, according to the Monongalia County Homeland Security Emergency Management Agency. The bridge was closed at about 4 p.m. and reopened about 7:30 p.m.

Cronin said the first part of the permanent repair, in the fast lane, is nearing completion.

On Sunday, traffic control was set up so the rest of the work on the expansion joint can be completed, Cronin said.
