Traffic stop leads to 2 arrests

Passengers found to have gun, multiple types of drugs

A traffic stop led deputies to arrest two people for allegedly having multiple types of drugs, including almost 100 tabs of LSD, on Sunday.

Chelsea E. Hunneshagen, 29, of Grafton and David M. Brannon, 32, of Newburg, are each charged with five counts of possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute and one count of conspiracy to commit a drug crime by the Monongalia County Sheriff’s Office.

Both were passengers in the back seat of a vehicle that was stopped by a deputy on Grafton Road, according to a criminal complaint.

Sheriff Perry Palmer said it was a personal vehicle, not an Uber or taxi. The driver was not charged. Palmer said he didn’t know the reason for the traffic stop.

The vehicle was searched after a Morgantown Police Department K9 detected the presence of drugs, the complaint said.

According to the complaint, officers found 50 grams of methamphetamine individually packaged in various weights; 14 grams of marijuana, also packaged in different weights; 94 stamps of LSD, 90 of them together and four in a separate plastic bag; one gram of heroin in a plastic bag and an unknown amount of heroin in a glass jar; nine-and-a-half tablets of alprazolam; four tablets of lorazepam; ecstasy tablets; and buprenorphine tablets.

A 9mm pistol, 55 empty plastic bags and a set of digital scales were also found, the complaint said.

Some of the tablets, bags and meth were found in Hunneshagen’s purse and pockets. The rest of the drugs were found in a small black case that was between the two, according the complaint.

Brannon said the marijuana was his and the scale was found in a bag belonging to him, the complaint said.

Both were arraigned in Monongalia County Magistrate Court by Magistrate Jim Nabors. They are being held in North Central Regional Jail in lieu of $50,000 bond.
