Deckers Creek Rail Trail closes in phases during surfacing project

Newsroom@DominionPost.com

A section of Deckers Creek Rail Trail from mile 5.9 at Breakiron Road  to the first Greer plant trail crossing near mile 9.6 is closed today.

The Breakiron Road Trailhead is open for use only going down the rail-trail back toward Morgantown. Those coming from Masontown must turn around at second Greer trail crossing (mile 9.6), as there is large equipment working on trail surfacing.

This is part of major restoration work of Deckers Creek trail, which is being done in phases.

Work on the more than 12 miles of rail-trail is anticipated to take until the end of October, depending on the weather.

Trail users can  check the status of sections of trail from the Mon River Trails Conservancy website at http://www.montrails.org/.
