Newsroom@DominionPost.com

Senior Monongalians will host its annual Senior Expo  on Oct. 2, as a drive-in experience from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. in the parking lot of Mountaineer Mall on Green Bag Road.

This year, the expo will be modified due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Senior Monongalians will prepare tote bags full of vendor information and promotional items prior to the event for distribution. Vendor participation is free.

Vendors should contact Senior Monongalians at 304-296-9812 for instructions on dropping off materials prior to the event date.

For the health and safety of the community, no vendors will be allowed to set up on site during the event. Any business offering products or services to the senior population in Monongalia County is welcome to participate.

Seniors can participate in one, two or three featured stations, all from the comfort of their own vehicles. First, tote bags will be distributed on a first come, first serve basis during the event. Second, Senior Monongalians will offer a  curbside to-go lunch box of barbecue pork sandwich, baked beans, green beans, movie theater popcorn and a cookie. Anyone  60 and older is admitted free of charge, suggested donation for the lunch is $2. For those younger than  60, cost per meal is $7.50.

Mon Health will  provide a drive-in “Fight the Flu” clinic, offering the influenza vaccine for a small fee. Mon Health can bill PEIA, Humana, WV Medicaid, Medicare and Medicare replacement plans for the cost in lieu of paying that day. Please wear a mask, and bring your ID and insurance cards. No appointment is needed.

The expo is free and open to the public, however, reservations are recommended due to limited number of tote bags and meal boxes. Seniors can call the center to reserve  items at 304-296-9812.
