Man admits to breaking into storage units

A Bruceton Mills man pleaded guilty to two counts of breaking and entering for breaking into storage units.

Judge Susan Tucker accepted 32-year-old Fred Rohr’s plea in Monongalia County Circuit Court on Tuesday.

Rohr was indicted on five counts of breaking and entering. Breaking and entering is punishable by a prison sentence of one-10 years. The other charges were dismissed as part of the plea agreement.

If the case had gone to trial the state would have proved that Rohr broke into storage units at the Bakers Ridge Storage, on Bakers Ridge Road, and Guard Dog Storage, on Cheat Road, Assistant Prosecutor Stephen Fitz said.

The investigation by the Monongalia County Sheriff’s Office led to Rohr starting with pawn shop videos, which led to some of the stolen property, which led to the identification of a car that was seen on video, Fitz said. The vehicle led to some people, who led to Rohr.

Rohr was identified on video coming into the area with bolt cutters and cutting locks. In some instances, he would cut the locks and come back later for the items, Fitz said.

In one instance, Rohr had a partner but the majority of the break-ins were done alone, Fitz said.

Rohr agreed with those facts.

His sentencing was scheduled for October.
