Tunnelton man accused of sexual assault

KINGWOOD — A 22-year-old Tunnelton man is in jail on charges he allegedly filmed a sexual act with a 15-year-old.

Tyler Bryon Hillery was in the Tygart Valley Regional Jail Monday in lieu of $75,000 bond. He is charged with third-degree sexual assault, distribution and display of obscene matter and using a minor in filming sexually explicit conduct.

All three are felonies.

Hillery was arrested Friday. According to the criminal complaint by State Police Trooper T.P. Nicholson:

In January, a worker with the Preston County Department of Health and Human Resources Youth Services reported an alleged 2019 assault on a 15-year-old by Hillery, who was 21 at the time. The worker provided troopers with the victim’s cell phone, which was supposed to contain evidence of the assault.

Trooper Nicholson obtained a search warrant for the phone and took it to the State Police Morgantown Digital Forensics Laboratory for examination.

On July 20, the trooper received the digital contents of the device. A video showed sexual intercourse between the victim and Hillery and a photo of Hillery naked.
