Preston has fourth COVID-19 death

KINGWOOD — A fourth Preston County resident has died of COVID-19, according to the State Department of Health and Human Resources (DHHR).

On Tuesday the DHHR confirmed the death of a 70-year-old male from Preston County.

Also Tuesday the Preston County Health Department was notified of one additional COVID-19 case.

Total numbers for Preston County as of Tuesday afternoon include 103 confirmed cases, 23 probable cases, four deaths, 107 recovered and 15 active cases.

A confirmed case is someone who has tested positive for COVID-19. A probable case is someone who has been in close contact with a positive case who has developed symptoms.

Someone is considered recovered when a confirmed case or probable case has finished quarantine and has been symptom free for 72 hours without medication. He or she is cleared to resume normal activity.

An active case is a confirmed case or probable case that has not met the criteria of recovered.
