Newsroom@DominionPost.com

West Virginia’s largest lake remains a go-to summer getaway for the state’s residents. The reservoir was formed by a rock-filled dam on the Gauley River, south of Summersville in Nicholas County.

Summersville Lake Retreat & Lighthouse offers fully equipped cabins, a variety of  rental watercrafts to choose from, and Summersville Lake Lighthouse tours that overlook the cliffs of West Virginia’s largest lake and the Gauley River National Recreation Area.

In light of the pandemic,  additional measures have been  implemented, which were  developed in consultation with local and state health authorities to keep facilities properly maintained.

Deluxe cabins have been reopened. Full service RV sites and water/electric RV sites must be self-contained. No pop-ups or outside showers are allowed. The Lighthouse and gift shop are open. However, common gathering areas, including the playground, showerhouse and tent camping will remain closed until further notice. There is a also a visitor restriction in place.
