Woman charged with public intoxication after found naked in Masontown Cemetery

MASONTOWN — A Reedsville woman was arrested Sunday, July 5, after police received complaints she was running naked through the Masontown Cemetery.

Stephanie Elaine Thomas, 37, is charged with indecent exposure, public intoxication, obstructing an officer and disorderly conduct. Bond was set at $500.

According to the criminal complaint by State Police Trooper C.E. Smith, Thomas was kneeling on hands and knees behind a tombstone in the cemetery, which is along W.Va. 7. When he got out of his cruiser, she ran away. He chased her but she resisted as he tried to put on handcuffs, and the officer took her to the ground.

She appeared to be intoxicated, Smith said, and said she had taken meth.
