WV Caring Resale Shops to Reopen June 8th

The WV Caring Resale Shops will reopen June 8 with new hours and some limitations and new policies to protect the health and safety of customers, volunteers and staff.

The new hours will be 9:30 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday-Friday and 9 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Saturday to allow for nightly cleaning.

Safe distancing of 6 feet per person will be in place, which is what major stores are doing. To maintain the distancing, the shops will have new protocols.

The shops will have to limit the number of people to three customers at a time, two of which can be family members. To enter the stores, there will be three baskets outside the main door. Shoppers will pick up a basket, which means they can enter the store.
When there are no baskets, the customer will have to wait outside the door until someone comes out. It will be on a first come, first go basis.

Also, everyone will be required to wear a mask. If the customer does not have a mask, he or she will not be able to enter the store.
The only exception is for children under 2. Masks will not be provided. Limited masks will be for sale inside the store.

Due to the virus staying on surfaces, the donation procedure was modified. Donations will only be accepted on Mondays and
Thursdays to allow for all donations to be held for three days prior to sorting. Once the donation holding area is full, donations will be refused for the remainder of that day and donations will have to be brought back another day.

In addition, donations must be bagged or boxed now, and no loose items will be accepted. As an extra precautionary measure, it would be appreciated if donated clothing be laundered prior to bringing it to the store. The stores do not have laundry facilities.
Furniture is now limited to small items that can be cleaned and displayed immediately.

The WV Caring Resale Shops are in need of greeters, sorters and volunteers to assist in the operations. The new processes for donations require more hands to help in all areas.

All proceeds from the stores go toward offsetting costs for patient care and the WV Caring Resale shop is a non-profit. For information on volunteering call Lisa McMorrow, volunteer service coordinator, at 304-288-4965. For more information on the store procedures call Debbie Markley, resale manager, at 304-366-7995.

WV Caring Resale Shops are in 603 Bellview Blvd., Fairmont, and on W.Va. 7 in Reedsville.
