James Uphold

James Franklin “Jimmy” Uphold, 69, of Granville, passed away Saturday, May 16, 202,0 at J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital surrounded by family and friends.

He was born March 16, 1951, in Steubenville, Ohio, a son of the late Russell Clarence and the late Juanita Patricia (Hines) Uphold.

Survivors include his two children, Packy Joe Uphold and his wife Lisa, of Greensboro, Pa., and Jamie Myers and her partner, of Kingwood; five grandchildren, Teala, Brandon, Tyler and Gavin Uphold and Robert Friend; two twin-great grandchildren who have yet to be born; five siblings, Carol “Cookie” McDonald and husband John of Granville, Gene Uphold and his wife Melissa, of Bobtown, Pa., Paul Thomas Uphold and wife Sheila, of Westover, Kevin Uphold, of Morgantown, and Tia Dawn Uphold, of Morgantown; as well as several nieces and nephews. Additionally, he is survived by his faithful “fur child,” Chia.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Judy Uphold; a sister, Janice Denjen; and a niece Jillyen Uphold.

Friends may join the family to honor Jimmy’s life and legacy at the Jesus Mission Church in Osage at 5 p.m. Tuesday, May 19, until the time of the service at 7 p.m. with Pastor Dolly Sparks officiating. Following the service, and in accordance with his request, Jimmy will be cremated.

While the family wants everyone to be able to honor Jimmy, they ask that guests practice proper social distancing guidelines if attending services at the church.
