Charles Smith Sr.

Charles Warren Smith Sr., 79, of Newburg, passed away Friday, May 8, 2020, at his residence.

He was born on June 3, 1940, in Independence, son of the late Duke Warren and Cora Elizabeth Austin Smith.

Charles enjoyed hunting, gardening, being outdoors in the yard and playing cards. He retired from Jenmar with 23 years of service.

Charles is survived by his wife, Mary (Weaver) Smith; three children, Charles Smith Jr., Kingwood; Raymond Bell and Rose, of Newburg, Pamela, of Bell, Ohio, seven grandchildren, Cameron Smith and companion Amber, of Kingwood, Cassie Plum and Brian, of Tunnelton, Amanda Kennedy, of Ohio, Ashley Bell and Justin, of Newburg, Daphne Stemple, of Ohio, Greg Bell, and Julie, of Newburg, Michael Stemple, of Ohio; eight great-grandchildren; two brothers, Doc Smith and Kenny Smith, of Mich.; two sisters, Bonnie Smith, Grafton, Violet Pyles, of Kingwood; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Charles is preceded in death by his first wife, Myrtle Louise Bolyard Smith in 2015; three brothers, Francis Smith, Terry Smith and Roy Smith; two sisters, Ruth Pyles and Ethel Towns.

Family will receive friends at Bolyard Funeral Home on from 2-6 p.m. Tuesday, May 12, with proper distancing and face mask required. A private service will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday evening, with Pastor Delbert Lyons officiating.

Graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 13, at Shay’s Chapel Cemetery. We will be webcasting the service on his memorial page on the funeral home website. If for some reason the webcast drops, we will finish recording and reload once completed to watch.
