Morgantown Police apprehend auto tampering suspects

MORGANTOWN — At about 7:30 p.m. on April 28, officers of the Morgantown Police Department responded to the area of Inglewood Boulevard for a report of suspicious activity.

A concerned citizen reported seeing what appeared to be two individuals attempting to break into vehicles in the neighborhood. The suspects were described as two young male subjects of high school age, one wearing all black and the other wearing a blue shirt.

Officers began searching the area for suspects matching the description provided by the citizen and received a video of the two suspects. Officers were able to locate the suspects in the area of Harding Avenue breaking into two separate vehicles.

The suspects were detained and were identified as runaway juveniles. The suspects had several items that appeared to have been taken from vehicles in the area in their possession. The juveniles were returned to juvenile authorities and additional charges are pending. The Morgantown Police Department is in the process of contacting the victims and returning property as they can identify ownership.
