Tynice Martin scores 20 as West Virginia downs Texas Tech 67-60

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — Tynice Martin led West Virginia with 20 points and Kari Niblack added 15 more to push the Mountaineers over Texas Tech, 67-60, Saturday afternoon.

The Mountaineers (15-8, 5-7 Big 12) snapped back from Tuesday’s home loss to Kansas State to defeat the Lady Raiders (15-8, 4-8) in the two teams’ first meeting.

Aside from Martin and Niblack, Madisen Smith netted 13 points in the win. Martin’s game-high 20 points came off a 5 of 13 performance from the field and a perfect 8 of 8 time at the charity stripe. Niblack shot 6 of 14 from the field and 3 of 4 from the line.

Andrayah Adams paced the Lady Raiders with 15 points on 6 of 15 shooting, while Brittany Brewer grabbed a double-double (12 points, 13 rebounds). Alexis Tucker also had 12 points in the loss.

West Virginia returns to action on Monday with a road game at Texas. The Mountaineers last defeated the Longhorns on Jan. 12 in Morgantown. Tip is set for 8:30 p.m.
