Upcoming gala to benefit WVU Medicine’s new Children’s Hospital

A benefit to help raise funds for WVU Medicine’s new $150 million Children’s hospital will be held Feb. 22, at Lakeview Golf Resort.

This is the second year Bridgeport-based Infinity Studios Event Planning has sponsored the semi-formal gala for the 150-bed facility slated to open in June 2021. Tickets are $30 for the event, which will be held from 6-8 p.m.

“We host this event because of a need to give back to the community,” said Carmela Irwin of Infinity.

When complete, the kid-friendly, nine-floor tower will be the first-of-its-kind hospital in West Virginia. It will be decorated in bright colors, paintings and sculptures. It will be staffed by more than 200 doctors.

The tower will be connected to the hospital by two walkways. It will have its own radiology department, 20-bed pediatric ICU, 50-bed neonatal ICU, operating rooms, endoscopy facilities and a 30-bed obstetrical unit with potential for expansion. It will also be the only hospital in the state with a pediatric cardiac surgery program, as well as the only epilepsy monitoring unit for children.

Patient rooms will be on the sixth floor and up. Other amenities include playrooms for patients and siblings. There will be a laundry room and teachers will be available for children who need to keep up on their school work.

In addition, the tower will have its own gift shop, chapel, cafeteria and school intervention program. A separate pharmacy will be on the top floor as well.

The Feb. 22 gala will feature live music, an auction and a speaker from WVU Medicine. For more information, go to infinitystudioseventplanning.com.
