HUNTINGTON, W.Va. — The sixth-ranked University wrestling team battled No. 4 Huntington on their own mats, upsetting the Highlanders 42-36.

What saved the Hawks, who had three wrestlers out of the lineup, was seven pins by seven guys: Jace Stockett (126 weight class), Dom Parker (132), Mason Pauley (138), Joey Gidley (152), Dakota Hagedorn (160), Josh Sanders (220) and Corbin Turney (285).

“That was huge, those pins were the difference,” UHS coach Ken Maisel said. “It was a good win to go into regionals. We both had a couple of people out of the lineup, but it was still a great match.”

The win marks the final regular season dual for the Hawks who now have a week off until the Region I meet at Buckhannon-Upshur on Feb. 15.
