Maxine Swecker

Mrs. Maxine Corley Swecker, 99, a resident of Reedsville, passed away peacefully at her home with her family by her bedside on Wednesday morning Feb. 5, 2020.

She was born Nov. 29, 1920, at Webster Springs, a daughter of the late Simon Jacob and Iva Pearl Gable Corley. In 1938 at Randolph County, she was united in marriage to Troy Richard Swecker, who preceded her in death on Jan. 27, 2008.

She is survived by one son Richard Swecker, of Reedsville, eight grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by two sons, Gary Steve Swecker and Lt. Col. Gregory Allen Swecker, and three brothers, Byron, Neville and Duran Corley. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

Maxine was a graduate of Webster Springs High School, had been a beautician, a realtor, and, along with her husband, ran a movie theater in Valley Head, and was a homemaker. In her younger years she loved hunting and fishing with her husband and enjoyed playing the game of Set Back and was a Pentecostal by faith. Maxine was greatly loved by her family and the memories of this great lady will live on with them forever. She always put her family first and their well-being was always her primary concern. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

A time of sharing and reflection will be conducted by the family at her graveside in the K of P Mt. View Cemetery near Junior, at 2 p.m. Saturday Feb. 8, with interment to follow. The Talbott Funeral Home of Belington is in charge of the arrangements for Mrs. Maxine Corley Swecker.
