Holgersen’s house still for sale, listed for $2.7M

Dana Holgersen’s $2.7 million Cheat Lake home remains on the market nearly a year after he put the contemporary mansion up for sale at $2.95 million.

There has been interest in the five-bedroom, 7,733-square-foot home that sits on 3.62 acres at 214 Mystic Drive in the Falling Water subdivision, said listing agent Victoria Shuman of Howard Hanna Premier Properties.

“We have had several viewings and always ongoing conversation with the owner regarding the market,” Shuman said in an email to The Dominion Post.

“We have had interest locally, as well as from out-of-state buyers relocating to the area or considering Cheat Lake for a second home,” she said.

The house, built by Holgersen in 2013, is now listed for $2.7 million. Holgersen became the head football coach at the University of Houston in January 2019 and put his Cheat Lake home up for sale a month later. He coached the Mountaineers from 2011 to 2018.

Holgersen used cross-laminated timber, or CLT, to build his house. CLT is created by gluing solid and sawn lumber together, a process developed in Germany and Austria in the 1990s. Floors and walls comprised of CLT can be made ahead of time, which can lower production costs and speed up the building process.

Because of the price tag, potential buyers must show a pre-qualification letter or proof of funds.

Besides five bedrooms, Holgersen’s house has four full bathrooms and one half-bath. There are high-end finishes throughout and the garage can accommodate more than three vehicles. Plus, the kitchen has a marble counter where six people can comfortably sit and outdoor balconies run the length of the house.

The property also includes a guest house that can be used as a pool house or office.

“Anytime we are dealing with a high-end luxury home, as we are with 214 Mystic Drive, we anticipate a more intense marketing campaign and extended time on the market due to the limited numbers of buyers qualified in this price range,” she said.
