DOH says it plans to address large potholes on Brockway Avenue

MORGANTOWN — Those driving Brockway Avenue (W.Va. 7) to access downtown Morgantown may want to worry less about the Grinch stealing their Christmas and more about a giant pothole stealing their tires.

A hole stretching several feet across the center of the road has opened up on Brockway just before it bends into the S Walnut Street Bridge, exposing the original brick street beneath the asphalt.

Morgantown Communications Manager Andrew Stacy said the city’s engineering and public works personnel maintain communication with the DOH, but he could not confirm if the city made any requests regarding these particular potholes.

Either way, West Virginia Division of Highways Spokesman Brent Walker said the DOH is aware of the issue and plans to address it soon.

“We are aware and are making plans to address them,” Walker told The Dominion Post.

“We are prepared to put cold mix in as a temporary fix until the first of the year, when we can determine a better repair.”
