School bus struck by trailer Tuesday

A Monongalia County Schools bus carrying students was struck by a trailer on Jake’s Run Road on Tuesday morning.

The collision happened just before 8 a.m., according to Monongalia County Sheriff Perry Palmer.

James Bray was driving a 2005 tractor trailer cab with a flatbed trailer. The investigation showed Bray failed to keep his trailer in his lane and the rear tire of the trailer struck the front driver’s side wheel of the school bus, Palmer said.

The bus driver complained about left arm pain and she was examined by EMS. She was not taken to the hospital. Palmer said the five students on the bus were not injured.

The vehicles did not need towed and were driven from the scene.

No citation or charges have been filed and the investigation is ongoing, Palmer said.
