West Virginia’s volleyball team travels to face Iowa State

AMES, Iowa — West Virginia’s volleyball team hits the road for a rematch with Iowa State at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Hilton Coliseum.

“When we are locked in and compete, we are a pretty good team,” WVU coach Reed Sunahara said. “We can do some good things. Right now, we are a little bit inconsistent, and when you play good opponents, that inconsistency makes it hard to climb back. Iowa State is tough. They are good. Historically, they have been to the NCAA Tournament every year, and we are looking forward to going there and competing hard on Wednesday.”

In its last match, WVU (11-12, 2-8 Big 12) suffered a loss to No. 1 Texas in three sets in Austin, Texas. The Mountaineers fell to the Longhorns in set scores of 25-16, 25-21 and 25-16.

Iowa State (14-8, 5-5 Big 12) has won three of its last five Big 12 matches, but most recently suffered a setback at No. 3 Baylor in three sets.

Wednesday’s contest against the Cyclones will be broadcasted live on CyclonesTV, with live video and stats links available on wvusports.com.
