MORGANTOWN – In a Tuesday afternoon press release, the city of Morgantown announced Alexandra Stockdale was selected as the new director of the city’s public works department.

Stockdale has served for the past three years as the assistant city engineer for the city of Morgantown. In addition to her duties with the engineering department, Stockdale took on the role of interim director of the Morgantown Municipal Airport from May to September of this year.

The press release says Stockdale has gained extensive experience in municipal operations and civil engineering projects during her time with the city.

“Alex has been a valuable asset for the city in her role with the engineering department,” City Manager Paul Brake said. “I’m confident that she will hit the ground running as the new public works director and will do a fantastic job in her new role.”

Stockdale was selected from a pool of 40 candidates. She will start in her new role on Nov. 19.

“After working closely with the public works department for three years, I am excited to support the great work they already do and improve in areas that need it,” Stockdale said.

“The people that work in the department are excellent at what they do, and I am thrilled to help strengthen their technical expertise, learn from them and promote their hard work. I sincerely appreciate the opportunity to serve my community and the city that I love with energy, positivity, and a collaborative outlook.”

Longtime municipal employee Kenny Holloway retired as the city’s public works director earlier this year.
