Delegate Hansen to host climate change video conference for students from Capitol

MORGANTOWN — Delegate Evan Hansen, D-Monongalia, will be conducting a video conference for students on the topic climate change from 10:30-11:15 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 24.

The conference will take place during interims. Hansen and House Speaker Roger Hanshaw, R-Clay, will conduct the conference from the Capitol and field questions for students who join in.

Speaker Roger Hanshaw, right, talks with delegate Mick Bates.

“Climate change is in the news almost every day,” Hansen said in an announcement of the conference. “In West Virginia, we can expect more extreme heatwaves and floods. While renewable energy offers new economic opportunities, coal and natural gas still provide important jobs and tax revenues to the state. How are West Virginia’s elected leaders working to guide the state forward while addressing climate change?”

Students and teachers may join the video conference, conducted on the Zoom platform, who phone in for audio-only participation.

The online teleconference site will be at https://zoom.us/j/656284395.
