The Mon Metro Drug Task Force arrested a Houston man and seized five types of drugs worth more than $100,000 on Friday.
“It was a pretty good hit,” task force officer K. Sappington said.
Jeffery E. Howard, 21, is charged with four counts of possession with intent to distribute and one count of conspiracy to commit a drug crime.
Howard was found on a living room couch when the task force searched a Marcus Drive home, according to a criminal complaint. Marcus Drive runs parallel to East Oak Grove Cemetery.
Officers also found 1,074 MDMA pills, more than 2.5 ounces of heroin, almost a full pound of crystal meth, just over 3 ounces of cocaine and 20 grams of crack, according to Sappington.
All told, the drugs are worth more than $100,000. Sappington said meth, cocaine and crack all sell for about $100 a gram. Heroin is worth $200 a gram and the MDMA pills would have sold for about $20 each, Sappington said.
While two guns were found inside, Sappington said the Monongalia County Sheriff’s Department Special Response Team helped with the entry and everything went off without a hitch.
“Everyone was safe and it went down like we like it to,” he said.
The search was part of a months-long ongoing investigation, Sappington said.
Scales, packing materials and cutting agents were also found in the search.
Cutting agents are ingredients added to drugs to dilute the purity and allow a dealer to make more money, Sappington said. The task for has seen everything from confectionary sugar to different chemical compounds.
Howard is being held in North Central Regional Jail in lieu of $110,000 bond.
