Diana Somers

Diana Jane (Price) Somers, 98, of Richwood, Ohio, formerly of Farmington Hills, Mich., died Wednesday, Aug. 28, 2019, at Grady Memorial Hospital in Delaware, Ohio.

She loved being a wife, and was a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She grew up in Star City, W.Va., and graduated in 1940 from Morgantown High School. She and her family were members of the Salvation Army. She played trumpet and e-flat horn in the Salvation Army band. She was proud to have served her country as a “Rosie The Riveter” during World War II at the Ford Rouge Plant in Detroit, Mich. She worked until retirement as a teacher’s aide for Farmington Public Schools in Michigan. She enjoyed embroidery and crocheting, and was an avid college football and loyal Detroit Red Wings fan.

She was born Dec. 31, 1920, in Lonaconing, Md., to the late George and Sarah Grindle Price. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Somers; her brothers, James, William Irvin, Herbert and Austin Price; infant twin sisters; two nephews, Curtis and Raymond Price; and a niece, June Somers.

She is survived by her daughter, Karen (Bill) Kusey of Richwood; grandchildren, Karen Diana (Joshua) Nease, Sarah Kusey and her fiancé, Wing; great-grandchildren, Tanner and Diana Nease; a nephew, George A. (Mary Ann) Price; plus other close relatives and friends.

The Rev. Jacob D. Heino will officiate funeral services at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 4, at Underwood Funeral Home, Marysville, Ohio, where friends may call beginning at 4 p.m. Graveside services will be held at noon Thursday, Sept. 5, at Glen Eden Lutheran Memorial Park, 35667 West Eight Mile Road, Livonia, Mich.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Salvation Army or Lutheran Deaf Mission Society.
