Masontown home damaged by fire

MASONTOWN — Fire departments had just finished going through the Valley District Fair parade Thursday night when a fire was paged out in nearby Masontown.

Preston 911 reported it paged out the fire at 8:03 p.m. The blaze was at a brick house at 65 South St., Masontown, in the area behind Main Pharmacy.

Masontown Fire Chief Matt Montgomery said that Masontown, Reedsville, Albright, Tunnelton and Cool Springs Volunteer Fire Departments responded with a total of 32 firefighters.

KAMP Ambulance, Mountaineer Ambulance, Reedsville Police and the Preston County Sheriff’s Department were also on scene.

“The house is still standing but had significant damage,” Montgomery said.

The state fire marshal is being called in to determine the cause of the fire.

No one was home at the time of the fire, no firefighters were injured fighting the blaze and no other homes in the area were damaged, Montgomery said.
