Cory William Petroplus

Cory William Petroplus, 28, of Morgantown, passed away on Monday, June 17, 2019 at his home.

He was born in Morgantown on June 27, 1990, the son of Parry and Kathy Petroplus.
He graduated from University High School and West Virginia University and worked at Valley Mental Health.

In addition to his parents, Cory is survived by his brother, George; sister-in-law, Derica; uncle, Bill and aunt, Sheree, of Wheeling; uncle, Bill and aunt, Scherri, of Seal Beach, Calif.; aunt, Terpsie, of Pittsburgh; godson, Caden Farmer, of Atlanta; and cousins, Alyssa Petroplus, Kristen Reims, Billy Smith, Brian Smith and Katelyn Smith.

Cory’s personality was contagious and his love for people and life was evident in his interactions with friends and strangers alike. Cory’s ability to connect with individuals of all walks of life served him well as he worked to help many in his role with Valley. An old soul at heart, his love for classic rock and the lyrics within helped shape his perspective on the world around him and guided his outlook on life. Cory’s love and commitment to serve those in need defined his life and his efforts helped many in need. His adoration and love for his family and friends helped enhance the lives of everyone who was lucky enough to call Cory as one of their own.

Cory was predeceased by both his maternal and paternal grandparents.

Family and friends will be received at Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce St., from 1-4 p.m. Sunday, June 30. There will be a closing prayer at 4 p.m. to conclude the afternoon visitation with Father David Shaw officiating.
