John “Mike” Michael Silcott

John “Mike” Michael Silcott, 60, of Newburg, went to be with his Savior, Sunday, May 26, 2019.
He was born Dec. 31, 1958, in Morgantown, son of John Silcott, of Florida, and the late Jean McGinnis Silcott.
John was raised in Niagara Falls, N.Y., where after graduation went into the Navy. He was very proud of his service for his country where he often talked about the many wonderful places he encountered. Mike was a carpenter by trade afterwards and lived and worked in many of our beautiful United States. He returned to make his home back in West Virginia 13 years ago to be close to his family where he also became a member of the Birdscreek United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his father, John Silcott, of Florida; one sister, Jeanene Moran and husband, Steve, of Newburg; one brother, Greg Silcott and wife, Rosa, of Jefferson, Ga.; two nephews, Justin Moran and wife, Michelle, of Newburg, and Aaron Moran, of Grafton; two nieces, Ale and Emily Silcott, of Jefferson; and several great-nieces, Karagyn, Brooklyn, Lillian, Ciara and Miana.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Jean Silcott; one sister, Kelly; maternal grandmother, Ruth McGinnis Llwellyn; and paternal grandparents, Carl and Evelyn Silcott.

A grave side service with be held at Damon Cemetery at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 29, with the Rev. Rick Bloom officiating. Military graveside rites will be conducted by the Col. Rowan Post 2345, Preston County Chapter 977, Vietnam Veterans of America and the U.S. Navy Honor Guard.
