Saturday’s shooting victim not killed

One person was shot but not killed in a shooting at Exotica Life Gentleman’s Club according to the Monongalia County Sheriff’s Department.

The victim, whose name is not being released, was shot in an extremity and taken to J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital in a private vehicle, Sheriff Perry Palmer said. No other injuries were reported.

Deputies responded to a shots fired call at the Dellslow strip club, on Earl L. Core Road, about 5:30 a.m.

Law enforcement agencies from around the county, including the Morgantown police Department, Granville Police Department and Star City Police Department responded to help secure the scene of the shooting, Palmer said in a Monday morning press release.

The incident is still under investigation and the press release did not mention any arrests. Anyone with information is asked to call 304-291-7218.

David Helmick, who lives next door to the club, told WVMetroNews he was awakened early Saturday morning by gunfire.

“I heard gunshots about 4:30 or 5 o’clock this morning,” Helmick said. “They were fighting all night long. They were cussing and hollering and trying to get into fist fights.”

Helmick said he thought he heard as many as 16 shots in rapid succession. He said he immediately called 9-1-1.

Vic Soloman, whose family owns the building, said they recently leased the property to several individuals from out of town. He added that according to a Facebook post by one of the lessees, there was to be a gathering at 3 a.m. Saturday at the club for a memorial for a friend.
