MORGANTOWN — Joe R. Pyle Complete Auction & Realty Service is auctioning two one-of-a-kind local properties Wednesday that can turn into a unique development opportunity in the heart of Morgantown, or a dream home surrounded by 20 acres of wooded-property.
The first property to be auctioned is the Morris Mobile Home Park, located just behind Shorty Anderson’s Garage. The 7.5-acre site will be auctioned off at noon Wednesday at 908 Manchester Drive.
Ethan Moore, assistant general manager and auctioneer of the Shinnston auction house, said the trailer park site different is different because it is rare a parcel of land becomes available within the city.
“It’s a relatively flat piece of land,” Moore said. “It’s kind of hard to put a trailer on a side of the hill.”
The site will be offered in its entirety, or in five separate packages, he added.
The second auction is for 459 Tyrone Road, a 3,400-square-foot home that sits on 20 wooded acres. The home, built in 1957, has four bedrooms, four bathrooms, vaulted ceilings and garage space for at least four vehicles. That auction will be at 5 p.m. at the home.
“The house looks like something that Frank Lloyd Wright would have designed,” Moore said.
The home also has imported Italian marble, as well as original stonework throughout the home, a large library and lots of open space. It was for sale last month for a list price of $624,900.
Separately, Moore will auction off the Marvin Wotring estate.
Wotring, a gunsmith who died in December at the age of 78, is known locally for making the West Virginia University Mountaineer rifles. His estate includes 130 guns — many made by him — plus tools, furniture, household goods and other items.
This auction is scheduled for 4 p.m. May 3 at Sagebrush Round-Up Country Music Hall, 2580 Bunner Ridge Road, Fairmont.
Bidders at Wednesday’s auctions, as well as the May 3 auction, are required to submit a 10-percent nonrefundable deposit. The property will be sold free and clear of liens. Also, a 10-percent buyer’s premium will be added to the final sales price.
