Police identify woman who died following Fairmont fire

FAIRMONT — Fairmont Police have identified a woman who died following a fire March 15 on Gaston Avenue in Fairmont.

Cheryl Diane Willis, of 519 Gaston Ave. Apt 3, died at UPMC Mercy Hospital on March 16, according to authorities. The fire is believed to have been intentionally set, and several piece of evidence have been sent to West Virginia State Police Crime Lab for testing.

According to police, a person of interest in the case is currently incarcerated on an unrelated charge.
