First graders bring St. Patty’s Day smiles to Evergreen

MORGANTOWN — Call it luck of the Irish meets love thy neighbor.
A group of first graders from Suncrest Elementary made the short walk on Monday to visit their friends a couple doors down at Evergreen Assisted Living.
The purpose of the visit, to spread a little slightly belated St. Patty’s Day cheer.
The kids sang, chatted and presented the residents with some green-themed artwork.
Evergreen Activities Director Kari Barger, decked out in full leprechaun attire, said students from Suncrest always brighten the mood of the residents.
“We like to pair up with Suncrest Elementary because having the students come over and interact with the residents. It’s a positive thing and it’s really uplifting for the residents,” Barger said.
Barger said students visit several times each year, particularly around holidays.
Another group of first graders will be visiting today.
