Gun bash offers prizes, raffles, all-you-can-eat cuisine

MORGANTOWN — More than a dozen different guns will be raffled off to support two area volunteer fire departments at a gun bash in March.
A $25 ticket gets one person through the doors  March 23 and enters them into drawings to win the ticket prizes, said River Road VFD Chief William Rinehart.
The other VFD benefiting from the event is Cassville.
Ticket prizes are split between cash and guns, and all gun prizes have a cash option, he said.
An all-you-can-eat meal, including barbecue chicken and pork, baked beans and potatoes, is included in the price of the ticket. Rinehart said an additional $10 will allow a guest to enter the event and eat, but they will not be able to win ticket prizes.
That doesn’t mean a guest can’t win anything, though. Rinehart said there will be additional guns, as well as door prizes, which guests can win if they buy tickets for those drawings.
The  annual event has traditionally has a good turnout and has raised about $10,000 for the two departments to split, Rinehart said.
This year, the event will be held in a new location, the West Virginia National Guard Morgantown Readiness Center, behind the Morgantown Municipal Airport. Rinehart said he hopes the new location draws a similar crowd.
ATR Performance is selling the guns at a discount for the event.
Manager Erick Craig said the event is one of several sponsorships the company inherited when it purchased Second Amendment on Van Voorhis Road.
The company will also be at the event to offer the  gun drawings and will be donating range time, Craig said.
“We’re glad for the opportunity to help support the community,” he said.
Doors open at 1:30 p.m. You do not have to be present to win, Rinehart said.
Tickets can be purchased by calling Rinehart at 304-288-5015 or Chris Tennant at 304-692-7027.
Tickets have been selling fast. Rinehart said about half of the 1,000 available are already sold.
“We’ve had a lot of people buy multiple tickets as a family,” he said.
