A sampling of bills introduced Jan. 31

CHARLESTON – Here is a sampling of bills introduced Jan. 31. Monongalia-Preston-Marion-area lead sponsors and co-sponsors, if any, are noted.

SB 486, to make Daylight Saving Time official year round.

SB 496, to transfer regulation of milk and milk products from the Department of Health and Human Resources to the Department of Agriculture, based on the recommendation of the Joint Task Force on Milk Rules and Regulations. Sen. Dave Sypolt, R-Preston, lead sponsor; Sens. Randy Smith, R-Tucker, Mike Maroney, R-Marshall, co-sponsors.

HB 2787, to require that people trained in first-aid and CPR are on site at schools and after-school sporting events.

HB 2790, the Monument and Memorial Protection Act, “to prohibit the relocation, removal, alteration, renaming, rededication, or other disturbance of any statue, monument, memorial, nameplate, or plaque which is located on public property and has been erected for, or named, or dedicated in honor of certain historical military, civil rights, and Native American events, figures, and organizations.”

HB 2792, to prohibit activities connected with sexual abuse of an animal. Delegate John Wiliams, D-Monongalia, co-sponsor.

HJR 23, the governor’s Just Cut Taxes and Win Amendment, to phase out the property tax on business inventory, machinery and equipment. Same as SJR 11.
