Library exhibit puts WVU President E. Gordon Gee’s bowties on display

MORGANTOWN — If you know of WVU President Gordon Gee, you’ve probably at least heard of his extensive bow tie collection.
Or witnessed the man himself sporting one of the colorful ties around his neck.
Now, those ties will be displayed in a special exhibit at the WVU Evansdale Library.
Through May 15, Gee’s bow tie collection, including ties he wore at memorable times or in photographs, will be on display in the library.
The exhibit was created by the WVU Art in the Libraries program.
“We all hear about President Gee’s bow tie collection and see his quirky style on selfies on social media, but this exhibit selection made by Gee himself offers a real intimate look into his personal collection that he holds dear and wasn’t easy for him to let go of,” said Sally Deskins, WVU Libraries exhibits and programs coordinator.
“People will enjoy seeing more fancy ties alongside silly ties and distinctive ties, as well as stories about his growing fascination with bow ties starting when he was 16.”
