MUB replacing water line beneath Wilson Avenue ahead of paving work

MORGANTOWN — Morgantown Utility Board (MUB) crews are in the process of installing 700 feet of six-inch PVC water line  beneath a portion of Wilson Avenue, between White Avenue and Overdale Street.
The work, which began Tuesday, will replace the existing cast iron line that was installed prior to 1927 and has experienced multiple leaks in recent years, according to MUB’s website.
MUB is replacing the old line ahead of Morgantown’s plans to pave in the area.
The project could take up to three weeks to complete, with work taking place between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. During non-work hours the road will be reopened.
According to MUB, water outages will be necessary when crews tie-in service lines to the new water line, but service interruptions are expected to be short and customers will be notified in advance.
The cost of replacing the water line is estimated at $66,400.
