FEMA funds to address flood-damaged roads in Monongalia County

MORGANTOWN — Just over $1 million in Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) support will be used to address Monongalia County roads damaged by flooding earlier this year.
On Wednesday, Senators Shelley Moore Capito, R-W.Va., and Joe Manchin, D-W.Va, announced a total of $4,437,159 through FEMA’s Public Assistance Grant Program for roads in four counties — Monongalia ($1,085,016), Hancock ($1,015,145), Lincoln ($1,217,795) and Ohio ($1,119,210).
Earlier this year, President Donald Trump approved a federal disaster declaration following storms on Feb. 14 and Feb. 20 that resulted in flooding, mudslides and wind damage.
The declaration came with public assistance approval for 21 of the state’s 55 counties as well as hazard mitigation for the entire state.
