Stephen Pyle

Pastor Stephen William Pyle, 66, of Elkins,  went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, at 5:25 p.m. Monday, December 10, 2018, in the Davis Medical Center in Elkins.
He was born Saturday, August 23, 1952, in Baltimore. A son of the late George W. Pyle and F. Claire Eury Pyle.
He graduated from Columbia School of Broadcasting in 1985, and started his radio career at WCLG, in Morgantown,  as a DJ. He worked at several stations in Md. and Pa. as well. He loved broadcasting the Gospel Greats on Saturdays.
Mr. Pyle played piano for the singing Koon Family of Morgantown for several years and filled in occasionally for the Crusaders from Sabraton. Around this time he started his own group: The Message of Christ Trio, which would later become the Stephen Pyle Family. Mr. Pyle went into full time ministry in 1993. He pastored for the Church of God of Prophecy, in West Frederick, Md., Short Gap, and Elkins, where he was pastoring at the time of his death. During his time in Elkins, he served as one of the chaplains at the Davis Medical Center  and he conducted a nursing home ministry at ERCC, Good Shepherd, and Nella’s.
He also enjoyed writing articles for the religious section of the Inter-Mountain newspaper.
He is survived by his wife, Sallie Justice Pyle,  whom he married in Dagsboro, Del. on February 12, 1977.               Also surviving are three  children, David Matthew Pyle, of Elkins,  Jonathan William Pyle, of San Diego, and Stephanie Leigh Pyle Rhodes and her husband Daniel, of Shippensburg, Pa.; one sister, Lois Marie Pyle Scott, and her husband Steven and their daughters, Mandy Bassette and her husband Jared, Mindy Spangler and her husband David, and Misty Scott.
Stephen will be fondly remembered by extended family and dear friends.
Friends will be received  in the Milliken and Throckmorton FH, Inc. from 11 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 17, until the time of the service at 1 p.m.   with  Pastor Ronald Morris officiating.  Burial will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Mt. Morris, Pa.
The family ask that in lieu of flowers memorials be made to the Church of God of Prophecy P.O. Box 2171 Elkins, WV 26241.
