MORGANTOWN — The suspect in a September domestic violence beating was arrested on Tuesday.
Chancellor Christopher, 42, of Fairmont, is charged with malicious wounding and strangulation.
The Morgantown Police Department was investigating an unrelated incident on Tuesday when they encountered Christopher on Overdale Street, according to a department press release.
He was arrested without incident.
The charges stem from a domestic violence incident Sept. 26 on Grove Street. Officers found the victim was strangled and beaten with a baseball bat and mop handle on the head and body, the release stated. She was also strangled until she was unconscious.
According to a criminal complaint the victim was taken to Ruby Memorial Hospital.
Christopher ran away before officers arrived on the scene, the complaint stated.
