MORGANTOWN — The University High girls’ basketball team dropped its season opener against Wheeling Central by a score of 59-47.
Ashten Boggs and Abbie Coen scored 33 points for the Hawks, but the rest of the team struggled to get ball in the basket. Wheeling Central had three double-digit scorers in Eden Gainer, Hannah White and Kaylee Reinbeau.
The Hawks (0-1) will play against at 8 p.m. Saturday against North Marion.
